1.North Beach Group Campsite
- The campsite location and boundaries are as shown in the map attached hereto as Schedule “A”.
- In these Rules and Regulations, “on site” refers to anywhere within the boundaries of the campsite.
2.Reservations
- The Reservation Holder must pay the Total Fee to secure the reservation.
- The Reservation Holder must be nineteen (19) years or older and present valid government-issued ID to XWUM staff upon request, at Check-In and Check-Out, and when signing out & returning gate key(s).
- Reservations are non-transferable.
3.Minimum and Maximum Overnight Bookings
- a.Reservations may be made for no more than fourteen (14) nights.
- b.There is a minimum two (2) nights reservation on regular weekends.
- c.Statutory holidays (long) weekends are subject to a three (3) night minimum reservation:
- Thursday/Friday/Saturday nights if Friday is the statutory holiday, or
- Friday/Saturday/Sunday nights if Monday is the statutory holiday.
4.Cancellation and Refunds
- The Reservation Holder may cancel the reservation by telephone or in person. All refunds must be processed in person at the XWUM office.
- XWUM will refund all fees minus the Reservation Fee if the Reservation Holder cancels the reservation at least twenty-eight (28) days prior to the Check-In Date. Late cancellations are not eligible for refund.
- Where the twenty-eight (28) day deadline falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, the Reservation Holder may cancel the reservation for full free refund minus the Reservation Fee up until 4:00 pm on the day following the weekend or statutory holiday.
5.Damage Deposit
- The Campsite is presumed to be clean and in good repair at Check-In. The Reservation Holder is responsible for reviewing the state of the campsite upon arrival and photographing any litter, sanitation issues or damage to the Campsite. The Reservation Holder must notify and provide photographs to XWUM of any cleanliness and maintenance issues discovered upon arrival at the Campsite within twenty-four (24) hours of Check-In.
- XWUM reserves the right to retain all or part of the Damage Deposit for any Rules and Regulations violations, disturbances, and any litter or damage to the Campsite including but not limited to:
- garbage, cigarette butts, food or other items left on site.
- damage to infrastructure, trees, or other vegetation (including damage caused by the careless installation or removal of nails, ropes or other devices attached to trees); and
- damage caused by pets.
- The Reservation Holder must promptly report any Rules and Regulations violations or any other problems to XWUM and remediate any damages or disturbances that occur on siteat any point during the Reservation period from Check-In to Check-Out ( the “Reservation Period”).
6.Gate Key Deposit and Campsite Security
- A key is required to access the gate entrance to the Campsite. The gate must be kept locked at all times.
- XWUM will issue a maximum of two (2) keys. Gate keys will be issued only to the Reservation Holder.
- The Reservation Holder must remain on site during the entire Reservation Period.
- The Reservation Holder is responsible for keeping the Campsite secure and for the conduct of all persons on site during the Reservation Period.
7.Minors
- The Reservation Holder is responsible for all minors below nineteen (19) years of age who are on site at any time during the Reservation Period.
- Children fifteen (15) year of age or younger must be supervised at all times while on site.
8.Vehicles, Trailers, and Tents
- The Reservation Holder is responsible for ensuring that all vehicles and trailers on site are properly licensed and compliant with all applicable provincial laws and regulations.
- XWUM reserves the right to deny permission to bring additional vehicles, trailers, or tents on site.
- The Reservation Holder is responsible for promptly reporting any additional vehicles, trailers, or tents on site and paying any additional fees that may apply. Fees and penalties may be deducted from the Damage Deposit for any unauthorized vehicle, trailer, or tent present on site.
- The Reservation Holder will be required to remove any unauthorized vehicles, trailers, and tents from the Campsite immediately upon the request of XWUM. Failure to do so may result in further deductions from the Damage Deposit and possible ban from future use of the Campsite.
9.Additional Guests and Daytime Visitors
- Daytime visitors may be on site 8:00 am - 8:00 pm and must sign in and out the XWUM gatehouse.
- The Reservation Holder must register additional overnight guests and pay any applicable fees in advance.
10.Quiet Hours
- Quiet hours are 11:00 pm-8:00 am. Sound system and generator use is prohibited during this time.
11.Alcohol
- Alcoholic beverages are not permitted outside the boundaries of the Campsite.
12.Pets
- Pets must be leashed or caged at all times. The Reservation Holder and pet owners are responsible for the safety and good behaviour of pets on site.
- The Reservation Holder is responsible for ensuring that any messes caused by pets are cleaned up.
- The Reservation Holder will be required to remove any pets from the Campsite that are considered a nuisance, e.g., due to excessive barking or other noise, running loose, etc.
13.Campfires
- Campfire must be contained in the existing fire pit on site. Digging additional fire pits on site or lighting fire outside the fire pit is prohibited. Absolutely no fires on the beach.
- Campsite users must provide their own firewood and may burn clean wood only – i.e. no nails, no pressure treated wood, etc. Cutting trees (fallen or standing) or other vegetation on site is prohibited.
- The Reservation Holder must ensure that Campsite users comply with provincial campfire laws including size restrictions and proper extinguishment. For information on campfire safety and provincial campfire laws (including fines and penalties), please visit:
- No fires are permitted when provincial fire bans are in effect.
14.Food, Water and Waste Management
- There are no water facilities on site. Campsite users are responsible for bringing their own water to the Campsite.
- XWUM does not provide waste disposal or recycling services. The Reservation Holder is responsible for ensuring that any garbage or recycling is properly stored on site and removed from the Campsite at the end of the Reservation Period.
- There are outhouses on site. Campsite users are responsible for bringing their own toilet paper.
- The disposal of any non-toilet paper tissue (e.g., facial tissue, wet wipes, etc.) or other garbage in the outhouses is prohibited. XWUM will retain the full Damage Deposit for maintenance and pumping costs if XWUM staff observes during the Check-Out walkthrough that garbage or non-toilet paper tissue has been dumped in the outhouses.
- Cleaning and repair costs will be deducted from the Damage Deposit if XWUM staff find during the Check-Out walkthrough that the outhouses are unreasonably filthy or damaged.
- The Reservation Holder is responsible for proper storage of food and garbage on site. All food should be secured in a bear barrel or other container and stowed safely at least four (4) meters off the ground and fifty (50) metres away from tents or other sleeping quarters. The Reservation Holder is responsible for educating other Campsite users on site during the Reservation Period regarding proper food storage and garbage disposal. 15.Safety and Emergency Contact Information
- Use and occupancy of the North Beach Group Campsite is at the Reservation Holder’s own risk. The Reservation Holder is responsible for ensuring safety on site, reporting any Campsite dangers to XWUM and informing other Campsite users of safety risks and liability. XWUM assumes no responsibility or liability for the safety and well-being of any individuals on site during the Reservation Period.
- XWUM staff are not equipped or trained to provide first aid or other emergency services to Campsite users. XWUM staff patrol the Campsite regularly but may not be available at all times during the Reservation Period. The Reservation Holder is responsible forensuring that Campsite users provide their own first aid and any necessary safety equipment.
- XWUM is not responsible for anything lost or stolen from the Campsite. Lock up all valuables and secure vehicles when not in use.
- Cell phone reception is limited at the North Beach Group Campsite. In case of emergency, be prepared to leave the Campsite area in order to contact local emergency services (9-1-1).
16.Applicable Laws and Jurisdiction
- The Reservation Holder and other Campsite users are required to abide by Golden Ears Provincial Park rules and policies (“Park Rules”) while in Golden Ears Provincial Park (the “Park”) and at the Campsite.
- Park officers and staff are permitted to enter the Campsite at any time to enforce applicable laws and Park Rules, or in the event of an emergency or risk to public safety.
- The Reservation Holder and Campsite users are required to abide by all applicable provincial and federal laws, including without limitation:
- the Park Act, RSBC 1996, c 344 (the “Park Act”) and any other laws that apply within provincial parks.
- the Wildfire Act, RSBC 1996, c344.
- any orders or directions made by a park officer (as defined in the Park Act) relating to the surrounding park area or to the Campsite, insofar as those orders or directions do not contravene these Rules and Regulations; and
- any laws prohibiting the removal, destruction, damage, disturbance or exploitation of any natural resource (as defined in the Park Act), heritage object (as defined in the Heritage Conservation Act, RSBC 1996, c 187), or other protected object situated in the Campsite or surrounding Park area.
- Provincial and federal law violations may be subject to prosecution and penalties, including fine and possible imprisonment. XWUM will document and report any unlawful activity suspected to have occurred at the Campsite, including any suspicious activity and/or damage to the Campsite witnessed by XWUM staff or reported to XWUM by other witnesses.
